Intercultural understanding is not dead

SF
Today I had a really good working day. I had the honour to assist a great Syrian-Lebanese cook who introduced a group of physiotherapists to the delicious Arabic cuisine.
And, what is more: Once again I experienced that intercultural understanding is possible.
Forget about Trump, populists in Europe and all the bad news. Our world is still colourful because of all the great people who are full of strength, goodness and creative power. Like Ahmed, the Syrian-Lebanese cook.

And like that group of physiotherapists who are just ordinary people who are interested in cultural exchange and see Ahmed as a great cook but not as an asylum. They met each other at the same level, in a manner characterized by mutual acceptance and esteem. Yeyy, well, it's still possible!

Thanks to the Berlin initiative “Über den Tellerrand kochen“, which means cooking across borders, lots of people throughout Germany create a new togetherness among refugees and locals.

Here food serves as the most fundamental means for cultural exchange. It creates awareness for the diversity and cultural richness of our fellow human beings.

Today, laypersons realize Ahmends talent in cooking, they even experienced his passion for cooking and they are impressed and say: Well, he will definately get somewhere in Germany! He can achieve something. He is ambitious and modest at the same time, he can achieve a lot.
